CORPUS CHRISTI — We ended our weekend with more dangerous heat. We had a heat index value of 116 degrees this afternoon here in the Coastal Bend. A Heat Advisory was issued until 8 pm. It looks like these above average temperatures combined with high humidity is going to continue for the next several days. People should use extreme caution when spending a lot of time outdoors. The forecast for tonight calls for partly cloudy skies with warm and muggy weather conditions. Look for an overnight low of 78 degrees. It's going to be mostly sunny and hot again on Monday. Expect a daytime high of 98 degrees. It will also be a bit breezy in the afternoon. The winds will be blowing out of the south at 10 to 20 miles per hour.
High pressure will remain in control for much of next week. That means our hot and dry weather will stick with us. Daytime highs will be in the low to mid 90's. The overnight low temperatures will be in the upper 70's. We will see some increasing moisture late in the week. This could lead to a stray shower for the weekend
