CORPUS CHRISTI — A rather potent storm system is going to be rolling through the Coastal Bend tonight. It will likely bring some heavy rain and gusty winds. There is a also the potential for a few severe storms. The main threat will be for large hail, strong winds and the possibility of an isolated tornado. We may see a few showers in the early evening hours. However, these storms will become much more widespread overnight. Some areas will likely see between one and two inches of rain. The storm system will exit the area tomorrow afternoon leaving windy and cooler weather in it's path. The forecast for tonight calls for mostly cloudy skies with showers and thunderstorms. Look for an overnight low around 48 degrees. The showers will continue through Thursday morning. It will then turn windy and cooler. Expect an afternoon high around 60 degrees with the winds blowing out of the west at 20 to 25 miles per hour. It will also be rather chilly for New Year's Eve. Temperatures will likely drop into the upper 30s. We should warm up into the mid 60s for New Year's Day.
