CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It looks like we are in for some big weather changes the next couple of days across the Coastal Bend.

A strong cold front will be approaching South Texas later today, likely triggering some showers and thunderstorms with locally heavy rainfall possible at times.

Temperatures will continue running a bit above normal this afternoon with a daytime high of 84 degrees and southerly winds at 10-15 mph.

The heaviest rainfall is likely to occur overnight and some areas could receive between two and three inches of rain. Expect an overnight low around 65 degrees.

The forecast calls for more showers and thunderstorms on Saturday with an afternoon high around 72 degrees. The rain should be moving out for Sunday.

Much cooler air will start moving in on Sunday and stick around for most of next week. Daytime highs will mostly be in the low to mid 60s with the overnight low in the upper 30s to lower 40s through midweek.

The next front will be coming in on Wednesday. There is a slight chance for a few showers with this frontal passage.
