CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — The hot, steamy weather continues the next couple days with above-average temperatures and heat indices from 102-109. Except for an isolated shower or storm, it looks dry through Thursday but rain chances will ramp up from Friday through the weekend as a tropical wave moves onto the Texas coastline.
We are monitoring a tropical wave over western Cuba which will move into the Gulf today and could develop further. It is forecast to move west-northwest and reach the Texas coastline Friday. At this time, it is forecast to move onto the upper Texas coast, bringing the heaviest rain to our north Friday.
Showers will be possible Friday but will likely increase as we head into Saturday and Sunday as tropical moisture lingers. Locally heavy rain will be possible.
A tropical depression in the Atlantic is forecast to become Tropical Storm Gonzalo today and track to the west toward the Windward Islands but is not expected to affect South Texas.
