CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A mass of cold, dry Polar air settling into the Lone Star State late today will ridge into South Texas tonight, sending temperatures to near or below freezing before daybreak Tuesday.

Protect your tender vegetation, bring your pets inside and ensure the young, elderly and frail have sufficient heat.

The high moves east quickly, allowing a nice midweek warm-up before another front Wednesday morning brings isolated coastal showers.

No additional precipitation is expected through the weekend. Rainfall with the front on Wednesday will be confined to the immediate coastal areas and the coastal waters, and amounts will be meager.

Expect highs in the 60s to near 70, except upper 50s on Thursday. Lows will dip into the 30s and 40s.
