Expect sunny skies with only a stray shower

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — Plenty of sunshine and lower humidity will allow afternoon temperatures in the upper 90s Thursday through Saturday, then increasing clouds and showers will bring temperatures down a bit early next week as tropical moisture moves in and increases our chance of rain.

We are closely watching the tropics, with a tropical disturbance moving across the Caribbean and expected to become a tropical storm this weekend as it turns toward the southern Gulf of Mexico.

Another tropical depression in the Atlantic is expected to become tropical storm Laura tonight and track to the west to near Puerto Rico Saturday and into the northeastern Gulf Monday.

For today, expect mostly sunny skies with only a stray shower or t-storm and high temperatures in the upper 90s in Corpus Christi, 100-103 inland, and 90 at the beaches with southeast winds increasing to 15 mph by late afternoon. Heat indices will reach up to 106 this afternoon.
