CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — We've had a good string of chilly days in South Texas and it's been feeling more and more like Fall.
The winds were on the brisk side for much of the day yesterday and today, they'll be lighter, but still mainly on the breezy side out of the north-northwest at 10-20MPH. Especially for those areas near the coastline. Small Craft Advisories are posted until the mid-morning hours and then Small Craft Caution is advised for the remainder of the day. Boaters, mariners and those heading out to fish please take note and use caution. The water temperatures have dropped into the upper 50s!
Today, we'll look at a fair amount of sunshine in the afternoon, after starting off the day with a good amount of cloud coverage. Yesterday we managed 60 degrees officially and today we'll be slightly milder, but still on the cool side, with a high of 63.
Tonight, another night of cold temperatures will be in store. Winds will lighten up further out of the north around 5-10 MPH and we'll drop to 43 here in Corpus Christi with some upper 30s to low 40s for our inland communities. Again, staying above freezing.
An upper-level disturbance will traverse the Lone Star State on Saturday and as it does, it will begin to increase our rain chances here in South Texas. Still not expecting huge amounts of rainfall, but it will be mainly cloudy with chances of showers hanging on through much of the day and lingering into the overnight and early morning hours on Sunday. Rainfall amounts look to average around a quarter to half an inch with some locations pushing three-quarters to an inch of rain under the heavier shower and thundershower activity.
As the upper-level low exits a weak frontal boundary will push in and reinforce the cool air in place and keep temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s over the weekend.
Then, high pressure starts to nudge back into the area early next week and we'll start to see our afternoon highs nudge closer to normal, 71 for a high this time of year is our climatological normal, and then eventually we'll push the middle 70s by Wednesday and Thursday ahead of our next series of fronts.
Have a great day and fantastic weekend!
