CORPUS CHRISTI — We had a completely different day today versus what we experienced yesterday thanks to a moderately strong cold front that swept the area around 3AM. For Saturday afternoon we had a record high temperature observed at Corpus Christi International of 91 degrees shattering the old record of 85 set back in 2012! Today, we barely managed to make the low 70s.
High pressure to our north will continue to sink into the region and slowly erode the clouds that have been in place nearly all day long. This will result in a rather cold night across the area given the light winds and the clear skies. This is the perfect set up for radiational cooling to take place and result in many locations dropping into the upper 30s for our inland communities and low 40s elsewhere except right along the Gulf. Here in Corpus Christi we'll stop around 42, though if winds lighten up to nothing, we could slip into the upper 30s. Wind: N 5-10 MPH
Monday afternoon looks spectacular with mainly sunny skies and only a few extra high clouds moving in by the afternoon. High temperatures will only top in the upper 60s to low 70s. Wind: NNE 6-12 MPH
Tuesday through Thursday we'll generally see a warming trend, even as a weak front in the form of a high pressure push comes in on Wednesday. All this feature will do is keep mainly sunny skies in the area . High temperatures will still recuperate into the mid to upper 70s. By Thursday afternoon, we'll see a few more clouds, more humidity and highs back in the low 80s.
Friday, another cold front will move through for the first part of the day and bring with it a slight opportunity for some isolated showers. Unfortunately, even this rain chance is slim and rainfall amounts do not look impressive. However, it will bring more cool and drier air back into the area after warming up on Thursday.
Saturday looks sunny and cool with highs in the upper 60s and Sunday is forecast to warm up rather quickly with highs in the upper 70s with more clouds all ahead of the next cold front that will arrive on Monday.
