CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — Marco has made landfall in Louisiana and continues to weaken while Laura is strengthening in the southern Gulf and heading west-northwest.
At this time, Laura is expected to turn to the north-northwest and make landfall as a category 2 hurricane just east of the Louisiana- Texas border.
We will closely monitor the path but at this time it's not expected to impact South Texas.
We will see higher long period swells and a high rip current risk today through Thursday as Laura heads through the Gulf.
It will get hotter the next few days with sweltering heat for a late-week in the Coastal Bend as highs reach the mid to upper 90s in Corpus Christi.
Humidity will climb and heat indices will reach 110 Thursday into the weekend with only an isolated t-shower possible each day.
A tropical wave moving in from South Texas late in the weekend will bring a better chance of rain for Sunday.
