CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — All eyes are on two tropical systems which are forecast to become named storms and move through the Gulf of Mexico at the same time, making landfall early next week.
Having two named storms at the same time in the Gulf has only happened twice, in 1933 and 1959.
Tropical Depression 14 in the Caribbean is forecast to track to the northwest and through the Gulf toward the Texas upper coast and Tropical Depression 13 in the Atlantic is also forecast to enter the Gulf and track toward the eastern Gulf Coast. Both are forecast to make landfall late Tuesday.
The Coastal Bend will have mostly sunny and hot weather through Sunday with highs in the mid to upper 90s. The chance of rain increases early next week as tropical moisture moves in but how much rain we get will depend on the path of the tropical system.
At this time, scattered showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast Monday through Wednesday.
