What a weekend in South Texas!  For Saturday we had afternoon highs in the mid-80s and for today the highs in the afternoon were mainly spent in the upper 40s to low 50s.  This being possible thanks to a late season cold front that came in late yesterday afternoon with a punch to it.  Light to moderate rain, associated with a weak upper disturbance moving west to east, has caused some much needed relief to the dry grounds.  At Corpus Christi International Airport, we were over 2.5” of rain below normal for the year before the rain today.  Average rainfall amounts of half an inch to a quarter were common.  Though, there were some local reports from viewers of over an inch.

Tonight, we’ll see clouds clear out temporarily as high pressure moves in, but they will fill back in by the early morning commute.  Temperatures will remain on the chilly side and be some 10-15 degrees below normal in the middle 40s!  If a little wind picks up, wind chill indices will drop to the upper 30s to low 40s.  Definitely want to bundle up! Wind: NNE 6-12

For the start of the work week, clouds will start the day and highs will struggle to escape the upper 50s to lower 60s.  Though, the forecast is calling for the clouds to thin out some by the afternoon to squeeze out a high of 62 in Corpus Christi.  Wind: NNE 7-14 MPH

Tuesday will start chilly again in the middle 40s and then mainly sunny in the afternoon with highs in the lower 70s.  Easily going to be a contender for the best day of the week.

Wednesday and into Thursday and Friday, humidity and moisture will be on the increase and that means more clouds and highs shooting back into the 70s and 80s.  A weak front will stall just north of the Coastal Bend on Wednesday and into Thursday; this will cause some extra wind on Wednesday and a few stray showers.  Thursday and Friday the clouds will break up some, but still not enough to call for mainly sunny skies, with highs in the low 80s.

Saturday, another storm system out west tracks closer to us and will set off another round of showers and thundershowers in the forecast.  Highs will come back down into the upper 70s due to the extra cloud coverage, but Sunday is looking better as the system moves out and takes rain chances with it, but leaves mainly cloudy skies and highs back in the middle 80s.
