Colder air and damp conditions arriving late tonight

Cloud coverage quickly made its way back into South Texas today and that allowed temperatures to not warm up quite as much.  Highs still managed the mid to upper 60s over a good portion of the viewing area.

A surge of high pressure that is sitting in the Central Plains will dive southward tonight and push the cold air that is bottled in North Texas towards the Coastal Bend later tonight and that will result in a big change in our weather pattern.

The mild to warm temperatures that we’ve been experiencing will be replaced with highs in the 40s and 50s for the next couple of days.  In addition, we’ll see an overrunning pattern and clouds and drizzle will take over for much of the weekend.

Tonight, look for temperatures to start dropping, cloudy skies and patchy mist and drizzle in the area.  Low: 47 Winds: NNE 15-20MPH

Saturday and Sunday will both be soggy days with intermittent drizzle throughout the days and night with little to no sun.  Highs will struggle to break the upper 40s and lows will be in the middle to lower 40s.

We’ll get a little break on Monday with some of the clouds breaking and allowing temperatures to reach the lower 60s in the afternoon.

New Year’s Eve night and counting down into 2019, look for clouds to hold strong and temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s.  Most of the mist and drizzle should be offshore by then.

Another surge of cold air arrives early in the late morning hours on Tuesday and that will send highs back down into the upper 40s to low 50s through Wednesday with some more drizzle possible.

We’ll begin to clear out and see more sunshine on Thursday and Friday.

Have a great weekend!
