County opens emergency warming centers

County emergency shelter will open across Coastal Bend.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The county has opened warming centers because of expected cold temperatures. The centers will remain open until 5 p.m. Wednesday at several locations across the Coastal Bend.

The American Red Cross will be taking cots and blankets to the warming centers.

The Hilltop Community Center will have two rooms - one for men and the other for women.

The county has contacted the Salvation Army for food. There is no word yet on whether they will receive any help.
