These are exciting times for the Veterans Memorial baseball team. This morning, they took off for Round Rock and the state tournament.
The team got a big send-off. The Eagles will play Forney in the 5a semi-finals Thursday night at 7pm.
Advancing to state is a long standing South Texas tradition.
"Yeah, this is a big time baseball community," said Eagles head coach Lee Yeager. "Our area has had a team go for 17 years in a row and talk about pressure on us the other night when we were the only team left. We wanted to make sure we took care of that. This city, they love their baseball and they want a winner so we are going to go see and do what we can do to help them out.".
