CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Pro, college and high school football are all over but we still have players strapping up the pads and chinstraps in the Coastal Bend and we are going to highlight something we don't often if ever talk about: youth football.

The Golden Rams youth football is headed to College Station for something called the showcase.

"It is essentially a collection of teams seeing who is the best in America," said coach Stephen Gillespie.

8-year-old youth football teams will travel to Aggieland from all across the South and Southeast to compete in a football tournament.

"There are going to be a lot of good teams," said Brady Poole, a player on the team.

The Golden Rams are a Coastal Bend all-star team made up of the best youth football players from the area.

"We select them from tryouts, film, and word of mouth from other coaches," added Gillespie.

They are looking to put Coastal Bend football on the map.

They've already had success against all-star teams from the Austin, Dallas, and San Antonio areas. Now they look to do the same against teams from Louisiana, Georgia, etc.

The tournament is this upcoming weekend in College Station. The Golden Rams are looking to bring home first place, and they are confident.

"I think we are going to win," said Poole.
