CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Javelinas announced Thursday their softball series at Texas A&M International has been postponed due to the COVID-19 protocol.
This may be one of the best softball teams in TAMUK program history but the problem is they have not played many games yet. Thirteen games have been either been canceled or postponed due to the pandemic or incliment weather.
The Javelinas are currently 5-1 and moved up five spots to number 18 in the country according to The National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll. Many of the same players are back from that great team from two years ago which advanced to the NCAA division II national tournament in Denver.
This is a team that has gone from hoping to advance to expecting to make the national finals. "I think this is the deepest team we have ever had," said Javelinas outfielder Loren Kelly. "If someone gets hurt, I trust the person in their spot. We have so much talent on the team this is the year we should win it all."
The Javelinas are scheduled to get back on the diamond March fifth when they play host to St. Edwards in a doubleheader.
