Islanders suffer first conference loss

HAMMON, La. — The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi women's basketball team fell in a close contest to Southeastern Louisiana, 48-44 on Saturday afternoon at the University Center in Hammond, Louisiana.

The loss marks the team's first in the conference play this season and drops the team to 9-5 overall on the season.

The Islanders trailed by as many 13 points but clawed their way back to tie the game at 28 to start the second half. The Lady Lions won the game in the final minutes on free throws.

Alexis Bryant led the team in scoring today with 15 points, her eighth double digit scoring performance on the season.

The team returns home for the first time sine Dec. 29. They will play Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday, Jan. 8.
