CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Houston Astros made it official today, hiring 70-year-old Dusty Baker as their new manager.
Baker will be looking for his first world championship with the Astros, who came within a game of winning the 2019 World Series. The veteran Baker was hired to a one-year contract with an option year.
His hiring was a big topic at the Hooks' winter banquet.
KRIS sports director Alan Harwell discussed Baker's hiring and other topics with Bill Brown, the Astros' veteran ambassador and occasional swing announcer.
