CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The only two local high school football teams still remaining will play each other in the biggest game of the season.
Veterans Memorial will battle Flour Bluff in the class 5A region IV final Saturday afternoon at Buc Stadium starting at 2 p.m.
Eagles head coach Cody Simper said, "It's pretty awesome to have two teams from the same city playing in this game."
"We are talking about an opportunity to go play in the state semi-finals so the winner of this game can call themselves regional champs and our kids are fired up about it, " Simper continued.
This is a rematch from November 19th when the Eagles handed the Hornets their only loss of the season 34 to 17. It was the Eagles biggest challenge so far. " Yes, it was because Flour Bluff is the best well rounded team we have played so far," said Eagles QB Carter Senterfitt. "When you play a team twice, both teams already know each other so it all comes down to who executes their game plan better"
This game certainly has the makings of a real classic. Keep it tuned to KRIS 6 Sports for the very latest and we of course will have your complete game coverage Saturday.
