CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — We have reached Week 9 of the high school football season. Miller plays Veterans Memorial Friday night with first place on the line. It’s our marquee matchup and tonight, we take a look at the Bucs.

Coming off a last-second win over Flour Bluff, the Bucs currently are unbeaten and alone at the top of District 15-5A Division I.

And they’ve done it with balance, throwing for more than 2,200 yards and rushing for more than 1,900 yards.

They are running the ball with a ton of success. It’s something that the Bucs are taking a lot of pride in.

“Coming into the season, a lot of people looked at Miller as a pass happy offense and last year we were,” Miller coach Justen Evans said. “We made a conservative effort during the off season to get better at running the football.

“So now teams are starting to see that if you want to play nickel or dime coverages and have light boxes on the back end, we will run the football and we don't have a problem running it and continue to run it.”
