ALICE, Texas — In Alice, the Coyotes are getting ready to add their name to the short list of schools that sport a multipurpose indoor facility.
"Going to the other schools and seeing their facilities is dope but now we have one," junior Ryan Salas said.
The 60-yard indoor facility is under construction right now, but they are moving at a brisk pace and expect turf to be laid down by the start of 2021.
With the completion of the indoor facility, comes goodbye to hot practices or practices canceled by bad weather.
"In the football program we missed six practices due to the weather," said Alice Athletic Director and head football coach Kyle Atwood.
It will be a beautiful facility that the football team can use for practices, but it will be used by all.
"The band's going to be able to utilize it, the PE department will utilize it and other sports will utilize it," continue Atwood.
For the Alice athletic department, this moves their programs into an upper tier.
"There's a number of schools that we compete against that have a facility of this nature," continued Atwood. "For us to have the same opportunity it makes our athletes really excited."
Player are ready to practice in a facility that will become the pride of Alice, Texas.
"We're going to have a lot of work to do in there," said Salas. "We're going to get after it."
Atwood says they are hoping to use the facility for their 2021 spring football practices.
