CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — This Tuesday the boys and girls varsity seasons will continue but for the boys games, there will be a monumental moment.
For the first time in the Coastal Bend's soccer history, a boys varsity soccer game will be officiated by an all female refereeing crew; this is according to the Coastal Bend Soccer Referee Association.
Two members of the officiating crew for that night spoke with KRIS 6 News and it is safe to say they are excited.
"I am ecstatic," Breanna Flores said. "To be the one representing my gender on this moment is great."
This moment seems as if it is long over due and referee Anita Cruz feels as if there is not a lot of female representation in the profession.
"Over the years you saw men officiating soccer," she said. "But now there are more women so it's due up."
Those games will be at Cabaniss Field on Tuesday beginning at 6 p.m.
