Ethan Martinez accepts Texas A&M-Kingsville hoops scholarship offer

One of the best players in Calallen basketball history, Ethan Martinez, signed today to play for the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas next season.

Martinez, the Wildcats’ point guard, was the scoring leader in District 29-5A averaging 22.3 points per game.

A four-year starter, Martinez totaled more than 2,000 points during his Calallen career.

So now, he takes his game to the next level and can’t wait to get started.

“I have been to all their home games this year and I love the way Coach Johnny Estelle coaches,” Martinez said. “It’s just like a family there. The way he coaches is awesome and I want to be a part of it.

“It is truly a blessing just to be able to go and further my career in basketball as well as getting an education and it’s going to be exciting.”

We wish Ethan the very best. The Javelinas are definitely getting a great player and a great person.
