After wrapping up their regular season with a victory, the Ray High School Texans celebrated their District 30-5A boys’ hoop title in style.
The Texans wrapped up the title with a triumph over Victoria East on Tuesday night, coupled with Miller’s loss to Moody.
It was the Texans’ first outright title since 2004. Ray coach Brandon Bourg as a senior at King when that happened.
The last time it happened, Coach Mark Rundle was in charge. Rundle got a big charge out of presenting the district title to Bourg during ceremonies for the team at the school.
The Texans will hook up with Gregory-Portland in the opening round of the state playoffs at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Veterans Memorial High School.
