CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Small businesses affected by the pandemic have the chance to get some extra help if they need it.

The City of Corpus Christi, Port of Corpus Christi and the United Chamber Foundation have teamed up to create the Small Business Regional Pandemic Recovery Grant.

If approved, small businesses in Nueces and San Patricio counties can receive $500 for any needed expenses.

They will also receive an additional $500 credit for their city utility bill.

“I want to strongly encourage our small businesses to take advantage of this program so that we can turn the tide around together,” Corpus Christi councilwoman Paulette Guajardo said.

Mayor Joe McComb said he is determined to do what he can to help local small businesses.

“We're just pleased with the city and the council can be a part of this because if we don't have small businesses, we don't have a city,” McComb said.
