Port Aransas fishing restrictions scaled back

The City of Port Aransas is easing back on the fishing restrictions that have been in place since late March.

Starting Friday morning, fishing will be allowed again from the shore in the ship channel, and from the jetties.

But . . . there's a catch.

Fishing will only be allowed from 6 a.m.-8 p.m.

“Port Aransas is historically a fishing town, so being able to fish is a huge part of our local culture,” said Port Aransas Police Chief Scott Burroughs. “So everybody is looking forward to the day that there’s no longer restrictions on the beach. It's a gradual return to normalcy, but we're getting there.”
