CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The pandemic has created a new trend called virtual home repairs.

Not all of us are gifted with the skills to fix things or make upgrades to our homes. That`s where a handy person could help you out.

But during the pandemic, you might not want people to come over in fear of getting COVID-19. Another option you could try, which is gaining popularity, are virtual home repairs.

Mike Evans, the founder of Fixer.com, said they started out as a home repair service but found they needed to adapt fast when COVID-19 hit.

“Fixer dot com is a place where you can go and get an online consultation with an expert in home repair for fixing or beautifying or upgrading something in your home,” Evans said.'What we'`ve found since launching this video chat is that with a coach and a screwdriver most people can fix just about anything in their home with just a little bit of expert advice."

Evans says they`re able to help you with things like electrical and plumbing repair, installing smart home accessories, and assembling furniture, among other things.

"Obviously it has a lot to do with how comfortable the homeowner is in terms of picking up some tools and getting started," Evans said. "Some people are really excited to find out that they know how to fix a toilet and don`t have to spend 300 bucks to bring a plumber into the home the next time that that happens."
