Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, the Coastal Bend Food Bank has been doing its part to help the community rebound from the impact of this crisis.

It has hosted mobile food distributions at least once a week, and had another one Tuesday at the old Greyhound racetrack.

They handed out fresh produce and assorted dry foods, enough for up to 500 families in need.

“You know, it's hard to get food sometimes,” said Mary Moen, who lives in Robstown. “I try to help the elderly -- this is my neighbor -- as much as I can and the community. At my church, we give out food sometimes -- they give it to us and we spread it out to the community.” These drive-thru food distributions are held to serve residents in rural areas of the Coastal Bend.

The food bank continues to offer its normal food pantry services.
