CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — On #TakeoutTuesday, we look at a popular downtown Vietnamese restaurant in our "We're Open" segment that has a long history of a wide variety of delicious entrees.
The Vietnam Restaurant, 701 N. Water St., has been dishing up Vietnamese favorites since 2002.
It's a family affair as Lien Lam opened the restaurant. Her brother, Tony, is the chef.
Lam grew up in Vietnam, learning the business by working in her parents' restaurant.
After moving to the United States, she wanted to keep the family tradition alive in her new surroundings.
“I think this is what is best for them to do and here we are," she said. "And not only that, we all love food and create our own ingredients.”
They cook up their Vietnamese favorites with a South Texas twist.
It's proven to be very popular for Coastal Benders for a number of years.
