CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — In today's We're Open report, we look at a popular truck accessory story that has served South Texans for more than 80 years.
Trucker's Equipment at 722 South Padre Island Drive specializes in all kinds of truck accessories from tool boxes to grill guards.
They have been locally owned since 1936, spending 84 years on Port Avenue before moving to their new 31/2 acre location a few months ago.
They are celebrating in a big way because May is Food Bank Month at Truckers.
Net proceeds from the sale of grill guards, headache racks and steps will be donated to the Coastal Bend Food Bank.
Owners of Truckers say they are planning on presenting a check for at least $10,000 to the food bank at the end of the month.
“The food bank because they are local and that’s something that is never ending," said Joseph Vela, Truckers' operations manager. "It's always needed and vital to the community.”
