CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A locally owned auto parts place serves as our We're Open report for today.

When you think about buying auto parts, maybe you think of Nueces Auto Parts.

They have been around for a long time - 36 years.

They are located at 4409 Kostoryz near Gollihar. It is the last remaining locally owned auto parts store in Corpus Christi.

It's your one-stop shop for pretty much everything.

You can buy your auto parts and get your car fixed in the same location.

Arnold Montoya has owned Nueces Auto Parts since 1984. He grew up in the business,

His dad owned Nueces Auto Supply on Baldwin for more than 30 years. He admits business is down but he also knows his customers are hurting so he making his services flexible.

“If someone comes in and the part is $80 and they only have $72, let's go," Montoya said. "Let’s get them in and out.

"If they need their car fixed now, let’s do it now. We are not going to tell them to come back in three or four days. People want things done right away and want it done efficiently, so we are trying to do the best we can with what we got."

And Montoya says buying local has an extra advantage.

“We have relationships with all kinds of distributors of parts all over the country and all over the world," he said. "So we are able to get parts that other retailers are not able to do.”
