CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Today's We’re Open segment takes us to a place where they can still deliver smiles in the toughest of times.

Castro’s Flower Shop is one of the oldest florists in Corpus Christi. They have been around since 1951 making it a long-running family business.

Simon and Rafiela Castro started their flower business more than 68 years ago. They passed it onto their grandchildren Eddie and Debbie Castro in 1985.

Now, 35 years later, they are still at it. And despite COVID-19, their services are still in demand.

“People still want to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and get well soon," Eddie Garcia said. "Sadly to say, funerals are still going on and people still want flowers for funerals, it helps with their grieving process,"

Eddie Castro says his business has switched over to contact free delivery.

“We go to a house, ring the door bell, put the flowers by the door," he said. "Our driver steps back, we wait for the person to answer the door and let them know the flowers are here.”

And if you are looking for a way to impress your sweetheart, Eddie says he has you covered.

"Right now, we have a special on a dozen roses that are normally $59.99," he said. "But right now we have them for just $39.99 and we will even deliver them for free.”
