A wayward penguin has turned up in New Zealand, more than 3,000 miles from his home.

Who knows? He might be on vacation. Or he might just be lost.

But this Antarctic penguin has found his way to the shores of New Zealand this week.

According to records, it's only the second known live penguin from the Antarctic to be discovered in the island nation.

The bird has been rescued and is being cared for.

The last Antarctic penguin to visit New Zealand was found there in 1993.
