PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND, CANADA – Canadian drivers who pass a school bus illegally could face some hefty punishments and costly fines.

A new law recently passed in Canada could leave drivers without a license.

CBC News is reporting the new law will take effect Dec 8. Not only will the driver be left without a license to drive for three months, but the driver will also face a $5,000 fine.

Over several months, CBC News reports Canadian drivers have been calling for more punishment after some vehicles almost hit children getting on and off school buses.
