CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — We’ve got a traffic update on the headaches parents dealt with last week as they dropped off their kids at the School of Science and Technology.

The campus moved to a new location just off Saratoga near Weber.

Traffic was congested for the start of the school year, causing police to show up the next day to help direct traffic.

A week later, traffic is flowing much smoother, thanks to changes implemented by the school officials.

“From last Wednesday up through today, we've had cones out to help with traffic,” said Rosie Saenz, the school’s assistant principal and dean of students. “I've been out there with another individual, moving traffic along as were traffic officers.

“We were ignoring the stop signs, per the police department to keep the traffic flowing so we had no backups on Acushnet, we had no backups on Evans to Saratoga and that was the main key.”

School officials plan to add more crosswalks, and a new traffic light but the city will have the final say.

They're also planning to create a new school zone to address congestion and safety concerns.
