The Electric Reliability Council of Texas is warning of a scam circulating on social media asking customers to text their private account numbers.

The council says NOT to do it. They do not need any private information to get your power back on.

ERCOT says they are working as fast as they can to get power back on. As of 11:37 a.m. on Tuesday, the council says they have directed local utilities to restore 400,000 households as generation availability improves.

They said generating units across fuel types continue to struggle with frigid temperatures, affecting the power restoration process.
