Teachers coping with paying for their own supplies

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — School supplies are in hot demand as the start of the new school year draws closer.

But it's not just parents and students who are shopping for supplies.

As teachers spend time prepping their classrooms, they are also spending their own money.

Most teachers end up using money out of their very own pockets to pay for school supplies.

In fact, a recent survey by the National Center for Education Statistics says 94 percent of teachers are dipping into their wallets to make sure their students have what they need.

We’ll visit John F. Kennedy Elementary School to meet with teachers as they prep their classrooms and learn about the creative ways they have found to stock their rooms.
