A woman who became the face of an anti-drunk driving campaign has died.
According to KXAN, Jacqui Saburido died of cancer in Guatemala.
According to TxDOT, Saburido was taking a break from college when she came to the United States to study English. She had been in Texas for less than a month when the crash occurred that changed her life completely.
Natalia Bennett and four others were headed home from a birthday party in Austin around 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 19, 1999.
Reggie Stephey, 18, was also on his way home and was drinking and driving and crashed head-on killing Bennett and Laura Guerrero.
Jacqui suffered third-degree burns over 60 percent of her body after the car caught fire.
