The Texas Democratic candidate is running against incumbent Senator Ted Cruz. The issue has become a main talking point in the race.
The talk show host retweeted a video of O’Rourke talking about why he supports the National Football League players who took a knee during the national anthem.

On Monday, Cruz’s campaign published a You Tube video addressing the issue. It told about a retired Marine who lost both of his legs after he stepped on a landmine while serving in Vietnam.
“I gave my two legs for this county, I am not able to stand. But I sure expect for you to stand for me when that national anthem is being played,” retired Sgt. Tim Lee said at the end of the video.
