CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Since last month, we've been asking you to come out and support Operation Supply Our Students to give area kids the tools they need to start the new school year.
Folks in the Coastal Bend answered our call for help.
Today, KRIS 6 and CCRV spent most of the day collecting the thousands of donations given for Operation SOS.
So far, we have collected 15 pallets full of school supplies which will help area kids start the school year off on the right foot.
Those supplies will be stored at the United Way of the Coastal Bend headquarters and then handed out to the school districts who need them.
This is the 29th year KRIS 6 has partnered with the United Way of the Coastal Bend and H-E-B stores.
Last week we were at H-E-B stores across the Coastal Bend and folks donated enough supplies to help well more than 2,000 students.
And if you still want to donate you have until Aug. 13 to do so.
Some ways you can still help, when you check out at an area H-E-B store, look for the KRIS 6 tear pads and choose an amount that works for you.
You can also go online to donate or text "SOS" to 91-999 to make a donation via text message.
And 100 percent of all the proceeds raised will go to purchase the school supplies needed.
Thanks to you, thousands of kids throughout the area will start the school year with the tools they need.
