CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Starting today, those receiving food stamps will have a little more money to spend.
The average monthly benefit per person will increase from $121 to $157.
It's the largest single increase in the program's history and will be about 25 percent over pre-pandemic levels.
The increase applies to all 42 million beneficiaries of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
