CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — As tropical storm Cristobal finally makes its way to Louisiana. People in Coastal Bend are already feeling its impact.
The waves were pretty rough over at Bob Hall pier Sunday, where our photojournalist Dylan Moore caught a water rescue all on camera. Watch the full rescue here.
Just after 11 a.m. Sunday, two young girls had swum out into the water and were struggling to get back to shore.
The lifeguard on duty and a good samaritan jumped in to assist the swimmers.
"This guy on a boogeyboard started yelling and screaming, I guess it was his sister or someone out there," said Austin Hoelscher, the man who assisted the lifeguard. "Two girls were out there pretty far and they couldn't swim back in. I told Courtney, my daughter, to come back up and I just swam out there to the left a little bit and help the lifeguard pull that one girl in. It was pretty crazy.
We're told both girls made it out safely and are expected to be okay.
