CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — With the recent rains bombarding our area earlier this week and weekend, Vector Control is stepping up its mosquito spraying.
Joel Skidmore, who is the Program Operation Manager for Animal Control Services/Vector Control, said, "We have mosquito traps throughout the city. Every morning, three vector control (workers) check those traps to see where we're seeing the most mosquito activity."
Vector Control employees said they found an increase in the North Beach area, Calallen, and Flour Bluff. Crews sprayed those areas.
Now, they are spraying portions of the inner city where the graduations will be held.
Also, crews will be spraying out on the Island.
"We're doing our best to try to control the breeding population. My vector control officers are very knowledgeable. "I hold daily meetings with my vector officers. We discuss where we need to larvicide, " Skidmore said. "We've been working on this proactively since last week."
