U.S. Rep. Cloud visits injured CCPD officer Michael Love

Corpus Christi Police Department Officer Michael Love was all smiles Monday while receiving a visit from U.S. Rep. Michael Cloud in his hospital room.

Mayor Joe McComb, who also has visited Love, said the officer is recovering from a pelvic injury.

Love was hit by a vehicle Friday night while conducting a traffic stop with Officer Alan McCollum, who was killed in the line of duty, and one other officer, on State Hwy. 358 over the Carroll Lane overpass between Weber and Kostoryz roads.

Brandon Portillo, the 26-year-old man who has been arrested for hitting the men, in currently in the Nueces County Jail, held on a $1.5 million bond. He is charged with Intoxication manslaughter in McCollum's death and intoxication assault for Love's injuries.

The CCPD Facebook post said Cloud visited with Cloud and his family.
