Tyler Farmer sentenced to 39 years for Gilbert Sierra murder

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Tyler Farmer has been sentenced to 39 years in prison after being found guilty of murder in connection with the 2017 shooting death of Gilbert Serna.

A jury on Wednesday convicted Farmer of the crime.

Farmer’s trial began on Jan. 13 and the case was given for jury deliberation at about 11 a.m. today.

Their verdict was return after about four hours of deliberation.

Sierra was found with a gunshot wound to his torso in the 1400 block of 18th Street.

Farmer is accused of firing a gunshot into a crowd at Allen Elementary School, resulting in the death of Sierra.
