ARANSAS PASS, Texas — A 28-year-old Aransas Pass sex offender has been sentenced to 40 years in state jail.

According to Aransas Pass officials, Ross Longoria Jr. was arrested and charged with online solicitation of a minor on Wednesday, January 16. After his arrest, detectives searched his home and seized more digital evidence.

Last June, Longoria, a registered sex offender was reported through Tri-County Crimestoppers for having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old-girl. Police said detectives immediately began investigating the case, but the evidence was scarce due to poor cooperation from involved individuals.

According to police, Longoria has targeted underage girls before. They say he currently registers for sexual offense he previously committed against girls, aged 14, 14 and 16.

Police said Longoria uses social media to communicate and groom his victims, as he did in the current case.
