CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi Police Department has released the mugshot of the suspect connected to the shooting of a 6-year-old.
Two arrests have been made in the shooting of a young boy on Shoreline Boulevard.
According to Lt. Michael Pena with the Corpus Christi Police Department, officers arrested 35-year old Arnold Angel Soto and a 16-year old male Saturday at 11:15 p.m. Lt. Pena did not have information of the location of their arrests.
According to police, on Saturday before 6 p.m., Soto and the juvenile were in a vehicle traveling northbound on the 500 block of Shoreline Boulevard. Officers say the pair then shot at an SUV carrying 5 people, including three children who were in the backseat.
A 6-year old boy in the backseat was shot in the jaw and transported to Spohn Shoreline Hospital. Air ambulance Halo-flight transported the boy to University Hospital in San Antonio late Saturday night. There's no word on his current condition. Initially, Pena thought the boy was 10 years old. Today, he issued a correction and said the boy was 6.
The man driving the SUV told officers who the suspects were.
"It wasn't a random act of violence. He (suspect) intended to shoot the vehicle," Pena said.
Meanwhle, Soto and the 16-year old are facing a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Soto is in the Nueces County Jail on a $200,000 bond. The juvenile was taken to the Nueces County Juvenile Justice Center.
