CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Gregory-Portland Independent School District officials have announced two possible COVID-19 cases among staff.

Those district employees have been isolated. G-PISD officials say they will fully disinfect any possibly infected areas and work with the San Patricio County Health Department to contact trace.

According to the district, these employees have not had any direct contact with students. These employees have been asked not to report to work in person for 14 days after the test.

It is important to note that the Texas Department of State Health only recognizes a polymerase chain reaction or PCR tests as a confirmed COVID-19 case. Positive "antigen" or "antibody" tests are considered possible COVID-19 cases.

G-PISD has decided to report results for all three of the recognized tests and follow protocol for each as well.

Information about how current G-PISD COVID-19 cases and protocol can be found here.

"With this reporting system, we intend to provide full transparency for our parents, staff, and community," says a release from the district.

Updates on the lab-confirmed COVID-19 tests are expected today.
