CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Texas Windstorm Insurance Association has voted against reversing a planned 5% rate increase.

The rate increase is set to begin January 1, 2021. Some Texas lawmakers had written to the board to request they stop the planned increase ahead of new legislation that would require approval from lawmakers.

The TWIA board voted 5 to 3 to leave the rate increase in place.
