CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — An iconic Corpus Christi fruit stand has closed because of its proximity to other businesses in the chain.
It’s the location on Morgan near Baldwin.
It has a "for rent" sign outside.
The other two locations on Ayers and Sunnybrook and on Morgan are open and still doing great business.
This one closed because of its location.
“We decided to close it because it was close proximity to both stores,” Daisy Martinez of Fruit King said.
“So we decided that all the customers would go to either store, these other stores that we have … 1607 Morgan and 4702 Ayers and we've noticed, more customers coming to those stores so it's helped out. It's helped out from the overhead.”
That Fruit King location on Morgan near Baldwin was open for about 20 years.
